Much like a simple prostatectomy, a robotic simple prostatectomy is a bit of a misnomer. It is not removing the entire prostate and it is not merely a simple procedure. This procedure is sometimes required for very large prostates where a minimally invasive procedure would not effectively remove enough tissue to help alleviate symptoms. It is performed similarly to the open procedure but is done with robotic assistance and multiple small incisions.
