TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate)

TURP is a procedure used to treat problems related to an enlarged prostate. During the procedure, the surgeon will use a resectoscope and remove pieces of the prostate that obstruct the urinary flow. It is an option for men with symptoms that are moderate to severe despite medical therapy. It does require anesthesia and often requires a catheter for a short period of time after the procedure.
